Mac Q & A: Set a New Home Page in Safari

April 24, 2011 by Mark Ratledge

My Mac Q & A Question: How do I reset my home page? I updated or something and now I get a page called Blackle instead of Google. E.F., Missoula

It’s easy to set a new home page in Safari. First, go to the page you want to be home, like google.com. And then go to the Safari Menu and choose Preferences.

That will open in the first tab called General, and there are a bunch of options you can set. The fifth from the top is for the Home Page, and under that is a button called “Set to Current Page.” Click that and Google will be back to your home page.

Check the other options while you’re there: you can select how new windows and new tabs open, and set your default search engine as well, and some of those might be helpful settings to change.
